Citizens of Florida announced Tom Grady as Interim President in March 2012

April 13, 2012

In case you missed this announcement made after Scott Wallace announced his resignation in January 2012, here is a link to the media announcement that states in part:

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Citizens Board of Governors convened on Monday and voted unanimously to appoint Tom Grady, Commissioner of the Office of Financial Regulation and former Vice Chairman of the Insurance, Business and Financial Affairs Committee of the Florida House, its interim president beginning March 12, 2012 following the resignation of the current president Scott Wallace. Mr. Wallace will remain with the corporation until April 6 in order to facilitate the transition. ”

Here is a link to the entire press release they made on March 6, 2012:

https://www.citizensfla.com/about/pressreleases.cfm?show=text&link=/shared/press/articles/new/03_06_2012.cfm&showyear=2012

I think I just might respect Tom Grady if the information quoting him when he resigned from his prior position to take this Interim position at Citizens is correct- he does need to turn the place inside out and I will keep my fingers crossed he consults with top insurance consultants when making decisions as too many people running the show have zero prior claims experience such as the Sr Director and Vendor Management director from an insurance claims department standpoint. More on that in my next blog where I’ll show you my major concern regarding the proposed catastrophe staffing model.

Here is the article I’m referring to from the Miami Herald:

Upcoming Claim Committee Teleconference for Citizens Insurance of Florida is today 4/13/12 9:30-to 11:30 ET

April 13, 2012

I know many of you are certified or in the process of certifying to work Citizens of Florida Insurance Corporation– CPIC- catastrophe and non catastrophe claims as independent adjusters.

Here’s your chance to get a current update on their staffing model in the event of a storm and much more information as outlined on today’s teleconference which takes place from 9:30-11:30 ET. As far as I know, all are still welcome to join in the teleconference. I have seen on prior meeting minutes where folks call in even just as citizens of the state of Florida.

The teleconference information for call in as shown on their Board of Governor meeting link is listed as:

Claims Committee Meeting

When: April 13, 2012 9:30 – 11:30am EDT

Where: Teleconference

Teleconference: 866-361-7525 Code: 5219676193

For a complete list of documents and the agenda, here is the current link on Future Meetings link  here:

https://www.citizensfla.com/about/mDetails_boardmtgs.cfm?show=PDF&link=/bnc_meet/docs/445/00A_Claims_Agenda_04_13_2012.pdf&event=445&when=Future

Note that this same information with very informative documents is usually moved to the Past Meetings link  after the meeting so if you are wanting to view this information after today’s meeting, here is the link to Past Meetings here:

https://www.citizensfla.com/about/past_boardmtgs.cfm

I’ll make another post later today with my comments regarding the staffing model of 120 days as proposed in the February meeting minutes that is presented for approval today as well as other things mentioned in the well prepared minutes from February.

The advantage of sitting in on the teleconference is not having to wait more than a month to know what happened at the committee meeting as it takes them quite a while to get the minutes posted in preparation of their next scheduled Claim Committee hearing.

List of 2011 Independent Adjusting firms with Citizens of FL Tier One (Direct) Contracts

October 25, 2011

For those of you asking due to approaching Hurricane Rina- here is the link to the list up on the Citizens of Florida website with the list of Independent Adjusting firms with direct assignment contracts with Citizens as of 9/8/11 per the date on their pdf:

https://www.citizensfla.com/shared/purchasing/pdfs/AdjustingFirmsRegisteredWithCitizens.pdf

I see Eberls Claims is on the list who is a ClaimSmentor Sponsor so please let them know we sent you if you apply! There are some great firms to choose from on the list so good luck out there should Hurricane Rina strike Florida!

Hurricane Rina- Now a Category 2 Hurricane- see projected path- Is Florida a Potential Target?

October 25, 2011

Here is the latest 11 am statistics for Hurricane Rina and projections for a possible Florida target location from Central Florida news:

http://www.cfnews13.com/article/news/2011/october/333804/Could-Florida-be-a-potential-target-for-Rina-and-new-low-in-tropics

I’ll have the selected Citizens of Florida 2011 Vendor link posted later today for those looking for legitimate Florida assignments from assigned vendors. As anyone who follows my information, I do not recommend ANY adjuster work for anything but a Level I adjusting firm- meaning a firm who has the direct assignment with a carrier- not a 2nd, 3rd, or more tier adjusting firm for your own protection getting paid. More on all of this in a later post today.
